We will backpack in the Kettle Moraine State Forest in Wisconsin or the Manistee National Forest in Michigan. During the Kettle Moraine hike, we will hike through the forest along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, following the ridges left by the last ice age. During the Manistee National Forest program, we will hike along the Manistee River — and through native hardwood and pine trees. Our first night, we will camp at a waterfall. The group will bond over the three days and some teens will have an opportunity to be leader for the day. Physically, we will carry a 45 pound backpack for 2-6 miles a day.
