How it works

In partnership with local schools and community-based agencies, Voyage Program serves youth in groups of up to ten over multiple years, providing in-depth, trauma-informed programming to youth throughout middle school and high school. By deeply investing in youth for the long term, whether building on skills they have started to develop or disrupting negative behaviors and replacing them with positive coping skills, our goal is to ultimately give youth the resources needed for healthy successful lives.

Chicago Voyagers provides a day-long adventure in or around the Chicagoland area every third week. After a few months of day-long adventures, we begin folding in overnight adventures, increasing the kids’ level of commitment and engagement. Ultimately, the goal is to lead the group on an annual wilderness expedition. Wilderness expeditions are at least four days long and require kids to carry and pack all of their items (i.e. tents, food, sleeping bags, clothing, etc.). Throughout the expedition, youth have the opportunity to apply everything they have learned ranging from practical skills like building a fire and reading a map and compass to soft skills like collaboration and communication.

Programs are free to our youth. We ask our partners to cover a small portion of the program costs. Please contact our Director of Programs using the button below to discuss program fees and scheduling further.
