We offer two different options of exploring the Rocky Mountains on a backpacking expedition: one in the Cloud Peaks wilderness and another that begins at Evans Ranch in the Arapaho Wilderness.
Cloud Peaks. We will backpack in the Cloud Peak Wilderness near Buffalo, WY. Located along the spine of the Bighorn Mountain Range, in the Cloud Peak Wilderness, home to splendid alpine scenery and towering sheer rock. The pristine forests of the Cloud Peaks support elk, deer, and moose. The streams are full of rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and German brown trout. We hike along trails opened up by meadows and wetlands and travel to a new campsite each day.
Evans Ranch. We begin the adventure on a Colorado Ranch made up of beautiful vistas and valleys - a perfect setting for the group development to begin. On the ranch where it is likely to see herds of elk, you will also get a chance to hike to a waterfall called Josephine Falls. We will then backpack in the Arapaho Wilderness near Denver, CO. Arapaho National forest is home to forests of stunning ponderosa pine and views of Rocky Mountain peaks. We hike along trails that open to pristine alpine lakes and travel to a new camp site each day.
These backpacking programs allow us to work more in depth with your teens. They will set goals and journal. The group will bond over the eight days and the kids will have an opportunity to be leader for the day. This is a great program to really get away, help your kids grow as young adults and explore an amazing environment.
